Programs to Develop Life-Long Learners

At A Child's World Learning Center we help children become life-long learners. To do that effectively, we create a learning environment to suit each specific age group. That influences classroom space and design, toys, games, art materials, music, movement, cleanliness, playgrounds, meals, and more. In addition, the classroom setting is designed to give our teachers the most opportunities to spend quality time with your child. One way we do that is to reduce the amount of paperwork and planning the teachers do.

Learning experiences that are age-appropriate for your child

Doin' ScienceThe teaching professionals at A Child’s World Learning Center create unique, theme-based lesson plans throughout the year. Our main resource is A Planning Guide to the Preschool Curriculum, created by the Chapel Hill Training-Outreach Project and Kaplan Companies. This guide provides developmentally appropriate topics and lessons with activity ideas and teaching suggestions for the early education of preschool age children.

Learning through play…

Our program presents weekly units through which children can discover and delight in important aspects of their world. Theme-related activities within each lesson are clustered according to the area of development or interest they primarily address, for example: art, blocks, cognitive, dramatic play, fine motor, gross motor, group, library, music, nutrition, sand and water, and science/discovery. Enrichment activities are also suggested that promote community exploration and involvement. The units are arranged in a sequence that gradually expands the child’s focus from self, family, and home, to school, community, and the natural environment.

Fun and meaningful learning activities

Children are motivated to learn when they have choices about the activities in which they engage. They are naturally curious and energetic, and learn best when they feel good about themselves and their surroundings. We strive to meet the needs of the young child by providing a healthy and safe environment where children will flourish.

Information about what your child is learning

Throughout each month, your child will bring home materials to keep you up-to-date on what he/she is learning at A Child's World Learning Center. Children enjoy creating art projects, such as painted pictures and collages. Be sure to spend time talking with your child about what he/she is experiencing daily in our classrooms. You’ll be amazed to discover how much knowledge your child is gaining through our curriculum.
